Moon spokesman insinuates self into Arafat memorial

Hey, give the Turkish cabinet official his chair back! From the November 13, 2004 New York Times story on a memorial for Yasser Arafat:

Near Mrs. Barghouti, chairs were arrayed for diplomats. In the chair intended for the Turkish foreign minister sat the Rev. Michael Jenkins of Rockville, Md. Mr. Jenkins was at the head of a delegation connected to the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

“We’re here to pray for the president,” he said of Mr. Arafat, adding that his delegation was also “praying for the Jewish people, for unity.”

Well, such chutzpah is not out of character. The man sitting in the chair intended for the Turkish foreign minister was also the man who hosted two Messianic crowning ceremonies in U.S. Congressional offices intended for governing.

In fact, you can view never-before-seen footage of Jenkins in action in this Quicktime movie. (Please pardon the rocky audio production.)

According to Jenkins, he’s also briefed “key American decisionmakers in the state department, Capitol Hill and beyond” on Middle East policy.

And it is fitting that Jenkins was “praying for the Jewish people.” In the theology of Reverend Moon, this is their second chance not to blow recognizing the true Messiah. For they rejected the first one, he says, and were subsequently punished by the Holocaust. Now he’s hoping the Jews will recognize that the wealthy Korean owner of the Washington Times is their Messiah.

Says the media mogul:

Jewish people, you have to repent. Jesus was the King of Israel. Through the principle of indemnity Hitler killed six million Jews. That is why. God could not prevent Satan from doing that because Israel killed the True Parents.
